Difference between LLND and English proficiency

ALG_PRIMARY_LOGO-1

LLND (Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Skills) are important skills for study, work and everyday life. Before starting your course, you will normally be asked to complete an online LLND assessment. The assessment measures six core skills: reading, writing, learning skills, oral communication, numeracy and digital skills. It helps ALG understand your current skills, make sure they are suitable for your course and identify any additional support you may need during your studies.

Normally, you only need to complete the LLND assessment once, even if you apply for more than one course with ALG. If you return to study after a long break, you may be asked to complete the assessment again.

English proficiency is assessed separately from LLND. If English is not your first language, you may need to provide evidence that you meet the English proficiency requirements for your intended course, as classes at ALG are conducted in English. Meeting the English proficiency requirements does not replace the need to demonstrate suitable LLND skills.

For more information, please refer to our Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Skills (LLND) Requirements Factsheet and the English Proficiency Factsheet.
